Exploring the effect of light

The paintings shown on this site follow on from the Antigua Series that occupied me for a number of years.

In Antigua I was fascinated by the rich colours and patterns of clothing and the effect of strong sunlight on them.

My fascination has continued with these explorations of the effect of light on landscapes, on buildings and on vegetation.

As before I have used gouache exclusively in the paintings as I find it is especially suitable for the slow build-up of details and for expressing sharpness and clarity of light.

My paintings have been exhibited in Antigua and England and many are now in private collections in the Caribbean, in England, France, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.
